First trip out on bicycle this morning. Got feet wet in little lake under a bridge, but apart from that, rather satisfying. I see there are huge crops of beans and peas out there. The only negative thing is the olives are days away from flowering. Better break out the masks and antihistamines.
It rained quite a bit, so the flamingos have stayed. This time last year they had already left. There was no point laying because the foxes would have stolen the eggs.
So, if you'd like to see some big, pink birds, you know where they are :-)
Oh, and they say the flamingos just know, so we are expecting more rain. But not just yet - forecast for this coming week is very summery. Monday 28ºC.
Was outside yesterday messing with the TV aerial when a huge flock of flamingos flew overhead. I didn't have the camera, so can't prove it. There is currently water in the lake, so the birds will hang around while they can eat the mollusks (I thought it was spelled with a C, but the spellchecker says no). A local farmer was telling me last night that flamingos "just know" when it's worth staying. This time last year they had already left without laying, so maybe there's something in what he says. It would be really great if it were to rain a lot.
Watch this space...
Today is the last thursday for hunting with shotguns (mostly rabbits). So from now on it should be safe to go into the countryside thursdays and weekends.
Hooray!
